Q-Alliance

About us

An alliance connecting quantum technologies, scientific research and industrial applications.

Complementary technologies

Quantum annealing

D-Wave Quantum

D-Wave develops quantum annealing systems and hybrid solvers for optimization. Ising and QUBO formulations provide a basis for mapping suitable combinatorial problems to these platforms.

Gate-based computing

IonQ

IonQ develops gate-based quantum computers. The research agenda considers their potential for simulation, machine learning and phase-estimation methods, subject to algorithmic and hardware constraints.

A collaboration rooted in scientific exchange

Q-Alliance was launched in October 2025 at the ComoLake Digital Innovation Forum in Cernobbio. Its development connects the Italian scientific community with international quantum technology companies and cross-border collaboration with Switzerland.

The Lombardy hub agreement with the Lake Como School of Advanced Studies forms part of this development. The alliance’s subsequent activities include scientific governance, industrial and academic partnerships, research programs and knowledge dissemination.
